Regional Seminars
National Component Conferences and Seminars are designed to support the development of skills and knowledge of local officers and activists so that we can gain the confidence to effectively represent members in the workplace.  There is also an opportunity to meet other unionists and develop networks in an informal, supportive atmosphere.  A copy of the agenda is included.

You should begin the process of deciding who will represent your local at this important meeting.  Component guidelines provide for full funding for two delegates per local, of which one should be the local president or designate.  The second should be someone who has not previously attended a Component conference or seminar.  Additionally, National Component will fund a third youth delegate from each local.  A youth delegate is defined as a member who will be 30 years old or younger on the 31st of December 2011.  All youth from the region will caucus at the seminar and elect 2 delegates to attend to represent  the Atlantic at the 2011 Triennial Convention in St John’s August 7 – 12 2011.  In selecting your delegates, locals are required to encourage the attendance of members from under-represented groups (i.e., persons with disabilities, gays and lesbians, aboriginals, visible minorities and women).  Locals may send additional representatives at their own expense.

Details on administrative arrangements, including travel, accommodation, accessibility and assistance for persons with disabilities are enclosed.  Late registrations will not be considered.

The seminar promises to be interesting and enjoyable.  Don't hesitate to call (613) 560 2580 or (800) 663 6685 or email Susan Phillips at sphillips@national-component.org  if you need any further information.
