Francophone Committee

Terms of Reference

The Francophone Committee’s purpose is to foster awareness among all members of the reality, concerns and issues that affect Francophone members in the National Component, specifically:

  • the recognition and respect of the constitutional rights of the Canadian Francophonie (Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Articles 16 to 20)
  • the linguistic rights of individuals (Official Languages Act)
  • the respect of linguistic preference
  • the obligation of Canada’s Francophone minority to defend the use of the French language

Composition of the Committee

We are a committee that is representative of the Francophone minority of the National Component, regardless of geographic location. The Francophone standing committee will be made up of Francophone national officers of the National Component, including Francophone regional Representatives for Human Rights.
