The Union of National Employees

The Union of National Employees represents more than 26 000 members working in the public, private and non-profit sectors.

We are teachers and mechanics, librarians and foreign service officers, plumbers and researchers, clerical workers and program administrators, passport officers and investigators, and more. Our members work in all Canadian provinces and territories — and many work for the good of the nation in countries around the world.

The Union of National Employees is proud to represent such a diverse group of workers. Our union benefits greatly from the unique perspectives that each member brings to the table; it is this very diversity that helps us grow and move forward.

Our union exists to protect, promote and serve the interests of its members in all sectors, placing a greater focus on workers’ rights and human rights. Working together, we aim to improve our members’ lives and, by extension, those of the larger Canadian public.

The Union of National Employees recognizes the importance of strong Locals and the invaluable help they provide. We therefore strive to empower our Locals by providing them with the tools, knowledge and authority they need to help our members at a grassroots level.
